Dr Nogita graduated as an Engineer in Japan in 1990 and worked in the nuclear power industry with Hitachi Ltd. He was awarded a PhD from Kyushu University in 1997 and has subsequently worked on a variety of research projects, including the development of materials for alternative power industries and environmentally friendly applications. He migrated to Australia in 1999 after accepting a position at the University of Queensland, where he became the founding director of the Nihon Superior Centre for the Manufacture of Electronic Materials (NS CMEM) within the School of Mechanical & Mining Engineering in July 2012. He is also an invited Professor at Kyushu University and at the University of Malaysia Perlis. He holds 12 international patents and has authored over 180 refereed scientific papers. He has participated in the World Solar Challenge, one of the largest solar car racing event between Darwin to Adelaide in Australia, as a member of TeamArrow.


Dr Stuart McDonald

Dr Stuart McDonald

Dr. McDonald, Senior Research Fellow, has a particular interest in solidification processing and the influence of composition on microstructure development. He has experience in the solidification of Al, Mg, Ti and Sn based alloys and the refinement of microstructure through the addition of trace elements in these alloys. He has contributed to several international patents and numerous scientific publications.


Mr Daniel Graham

Mr Daniel Graham

Mr. Daniel Graham is a senior research assistant with the University of Queensland. He has worked with the CAST CRC for a number of years. He is an experienced foundry manager who has extensive experience in melting furnaces, temperature measurements and other associated foundry technologies. Expertise extends into advanced risk assessment and safety management. He also is experienced in SEM and EPMA analysis.


Mr Keith Sweatman

Mr Keith Sweatman

Mr. Sweatman is an Adjunct Senior Fellow. His early involvement with the tin industry led him to the field of the materials and processes involved in the manufacture of electronics where he has had a wide range of roles in research, business development and management. He has been particularly involved in dealing with the technical challenges arising from the conversion of the global electronics industry to lead-free technologies in compliance with the EU Directive on the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS). He has been active in international electronics manufacturing consortia such as iNEMI and HDPUG and was a member of the NASA/DoD lead-free project team. He regularly contributes papers to international conferences on electronics manufacturing and solder alloy metallurgy. He is currently Senior Technical Advisor to Nihon Superior Co. Ltd.

Dr Xuan Quy Tran

Dr. Tran obtained his PhD degree form the University of Queensland, and he is currently a research associate with NS CMEM.
